Welcome to the Bolton NHS Talking Therapies: for anxiety and depression. We provide evidence-based psychological therapies to people, aged 16 or above, registered with a Bolton GP, who are suffering with common mental health conditions, such as: Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Health Anxiety, and specific phobias. We provide a range of therapeutic options for these commonly occurring problems, tailored to fit a person’s preferred outcome and needs.

We are not equipped to help people:

  • Experiencing symptoms indicative of an on-going severe and enduring mental health condition, also termed a Severe Mental Illness, such as: psychosis or bipolar disorder.
  • Presenting with severe levels of risk or difficulty functioning that would require team-based care from secondary mental health services.
  • Reporting a level of substance abuse that will prevent engagement with and learning from psychological therapy, i.e. a problem with alcohol or drug dependence which requires treatment prior to receiving help for anxiety or depression.
  • To help us confirm that we are the appropriate team to help you, please complete the form below. This form is for access for Talking Therapies only. Should you feel you need a diagnosis or medication review, please contact your GP for an appointment. Please note that our service will not be suitable for you if you are currently at immediate or imminent risk to yourself or to others. If the condition of your current mental health means that you are experiencing such difficulties, then at present you require crisis support. To access the appropriate form of crisis support please contact:

  • Your GP or NHS 111 (option 2 for Mental Health) - (24 hours)
  • Go to the nearest Accident & Emergency hospital department or call 999 for an ambulance.
  • Call Samaritans (dial 116 123; 24 hours, 7 days a week)
  • If for any reason this referral form is being filled out by a third party, please note that the client must have consented to the referral being made and that information included on the form may be shared with the client.
